Co-Curricular Life at Thomas’s Kensington
At Thomas’s Kensington, co-curricular life is central to our educational philosophy. We believe that children flourish when they are given rich opportunities to explore, perform, compete, create, and contribute, developing confidence, character and a genuine sense of purpose.
From the earliest years, pupils benefit from specialist teaching in Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Outdoor Education and Sport. These disciplines are not seen as separate from academic learning, but as essential to it: broadening horizons, deepening engagement and nurturing the whole child.

Sport plays a prominent role in school life. Through a broad and inclusive programme, pupils develop skill, teamwork and resilience, with regular fixtures and competitive opportunities for all. Alongside this, excellence is carefully nurtured, with pathways for talented pupils to compete at a high level.
The creative arts are equally strong. In Drama, every pupil performs regularly, building confidence and collaboration through increasingly ambitious productions. In Music, a vibrant programme of class teaching, choirs, ensembles and individual tuition enables pupils to develop both skill and a lifelong love of performance. In Dance, pupils develop physical confidence, co-ordination and expressive movement, with opportunities to perform and refine their technique. In Art, pupils work across a wide range of media, developing creativity, technical skill and individual voice within a purposeful and ambitious curriculum.
Outdoor education is a distinctive feature of the school. From early woodland experiences in the Lower School to more advanced challenges and residential opportunities in the prep years, including time at Thomas’s Daheim, our outdoor centre in Austria, pupils develop independence, resilience and a deep connection with the natural world.
A wide-ranging programme of clubs further enriches the experience, offering pupils the opportunity to discover new interests and pursue existing passions. From further sport and the arts to strategy, design and intellectual challenge, including activities such as chess, debating and coding, pupils are encouraged to think creatively, collaborate and extend their learning beyond the classroom. Participation is high, energy is palpable, and there is a genuine sense of enthusiasm and commitment across the school.
Together, these experiences ensure that pupils leave Thomas’s Kensington not only with strong academic foundations, but with confidence, curiosity and a breadth of interests that will stay with them for life.
Thomas’s Daheim
Thomas’s Daheim (which means Thomas’s At Home) is a hotel in the Austrian ski area of Wurzeralm near the Kalkalpen National Park. Thomas’s has been visiting the ski area of Wurzeralm for 40 years and has developed a strong relationship and close bond with the people and area.
