The School Day

At Thomas’s Kensington, each day is carefully designed to be purposeful, stimulating and intellectually engaging. From the moment pupils arrive, they enter a calm, purposeful environment where they are known, supported and encouraged to give their very best.

Our school day balances academic rigour with breadth and opportunity. Lessons are thoughtfully structured to promote deep thinking, curiosity and challenge, while a rich programme of specialist teaching, co-curricular activity and enrichment ensures that every child’s interests and talents are developed.

Academic subjects are primarily taught by class teachers, with specialist teaching enriching the curriculum in Art, Computing, Drama, Languages, Music and Sport. As pupils move through the school, increasing opportunities for subject expertise, independence and leadership further enhance their experience.

The variety of subjects and activities that the children experience every day at Thomas’s Kensington is very impressive and allows them to adapt to new experiences, find their strengths and build resilience for things less suited to them.

Break times and lunchtimes are an important part of the day, providing space for play, friendship and social development. Pupils enjoy nutritious, freshly prepared meals, mid-morning and after-school snacks, supporting both wellbeing and readiness to learn.

Beyond the classroom, a wide-ranging programme of clubs, trips and experiences extends learning further. We make full use of our London location, viewing the city as an extension of the classroom and providing pupils with meaningful opportunities to explore, perform and contribute.
