A very warm welcome to your admissions journey. Below you will find details about the admissions process at Thomas’s Kensington and guidance on how to apply for a place at our various entry points.

If you would like to register your child for Reception, please complete our Registration Form. Please note parents can only apply for one Thomas’s prep school.

RegisterEntry Points
We have various entry points at Thomas’s Kensington, which we have detailed below. Because demand regularly exceeds our available places, early registration is highly recommended.

Reception (4+)
Reception is our main entry point. Registration is open from birth. Children on our Main List are invited to a 45-minute play-based ‘Discovery Session,’ where our Lower School Team assesses school readiness in a supportive, small-group environment.
Years 1 – 6 (age 5 – 11)
Entry into Years 1 to 6 is via occasional places. Please contact Thomas’s Kensington directly or complete our Enquiry Form for further information and timelines.
Please note parents can only apply for one Thomas’s prep school.
Assessment
Once registered, your child will be invited to attend an assessment. The format is tailored to their age and point of entry.
Reception
Children take part in small group, play-based assessments during the Michaelmas Term, just under a year prior to entry.
Years 1 to 6
For Occasional Places, entry is dependent on current vacancies and determined by age-appropriate assessments of academic potential, previous school reports, a meeting with a senior member of staff and a fluent command of English.
International Families
While we warmly welcome international applicants who already hold the legal right to live and study in the UK, please note that the school does not sponsor student visas.
We prefer to meet children in person, however, online assessments can be arranged in certain circumstances for families based overseas.
